Dr. T. Colin Campbell explains how nutrition can offer an important path to fight viral diseases like COVID-19.

This is the second part of a 2-part commentary Dr Campbell wrote in the spring of 2020 for PlantPureCommunities.org. I summarize Part 1 in the introduction of the episode. In January 2021, Dr Campbell published a peer-reviewed article supporting this commentary. That link can be found at the end of the original post, which can be found here: https://plantpurecommunities.org/the-path-to-recovery/

T. Colin Campbell, PhD, has been dedicated to the science of human health for more than 60 years. His primary focus is on the association between diet and disease, particularly cancer. Although largely known for the China Study–one of the most comprehensive studies of health and nutrition ever conducted. Dr Campbell is co-author of the New York Times bestselling book "The China Study", and is a bio/nutritional researcher with over 60 years of experience in the field of nutritional science. He is the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University, and is the founder of the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and the online Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate in partnership with eCornell.

Dr Campbell wrote this post for the nonprofit organization PlantPure Communities (PPC), which was founded by his son, Nelson Campbell. PPC works to build stronger, healthier, and more sustainable communities through research, policy, and program activities.

PPC was formed following the release of the 2015 documentary, PlantPure Nation which you can watch for free here. This film demonstrates how political and economic interests suppressed the message of plant-based nutrition for decades and concludes with a call-to-action for people to form local plant-based support groups called "pods". Plant Pure Communities offers a wealth of resources to support these local groups.
